Welcome to Broodbakker Acoustic Consultants Limited founded in 2021 by Daniel Baker, a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner with a passion for acoustics, noise control and Nottingham Forest! With over 20 years’ experience in noise assessment, he has helped many clients from multinational companies to private individuals with noise related challenges and issues.

Daniel has a local authority background and between 2004 and 2010 was responsible for investigating complaints from the public on a range of nuisance and related issues as well as planning. In 2010 Daniel joined MAS Environmental Ltd working with Mike Stigwood providing consultancy advice and was part of a small team recognised in the Parliamentary Review for industry best practice.

Daniel’s paternal grandfather, Albert, was from the Netherlands and following his move to England changed his name from ‘Broodbakker’ to ‘Baker’. Translated from Dutch to English ‘Broodbakker’ means ‘BreadBaker’. The company name represents a ‘tip of the cap’ to his ancestral roots in Holland.

Noise character and the factors influencing individual reactions to sound at the individual level is of particular interest. His research on noise character has been published in peer-reviewed journals, earning him a research award from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. He has presented expert evidence in various ‘tribunal’ settings from planning hearings to the High Court on noise-related issues.
